A Little Wisdom

July 26, 2010

I have nothing to say today but this –

Much Madness is divinest sense-

To a discerning eye-

Much Sense-the starkest Madness-

‘Tis the majority

In this, as All, prevail-

Assent-and you are sane-

Demur-You’re straightway dangerous-

And handled with a chain-

-Emily Dickinson, 435

Apathy

June 27, 2010

Yes, it’s happened. The reality of summer has sunk in and I’ve been stricken with my usual plague of apathy (not undeservedly, either). This unfortunately means that I am apt to forget to post. Horrible, I know. In my brief absence, absolutely nothing of note has occurred though, so no harm done. I hope I can make it up to y’all with a solid playlist today.

Here’s today’s playlist

  2. Angels With Dirty Faces by Sum 41
  3. Burn by Three Days Grace

…And They Have Escaped The Weight of Darkness

June 14, 2010

Those of you who are more musically conscious (or, like me, follow Metacritic’s and Pitchfork’s reviews religiously) may recognize today’s post title as the name of Olafur Arnalds’ new album, which I mentioned the other day. It’s billed as Classic/Rock on Metacritic – let me dissillusion y’all about that right now. This is classical + drum beats in something like 3 of the 9 songs. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great music, transcendent one might say. But it’s not rock.

My title is also referential to the fact that SCHOOL IS OVER FUCK YEAH. 100 or so days of freedom! SUMMER! YES! Y’all know what I mean.

At Night We Live by Far, which is on today’s playlist, has the saddest music video of all time. ALL TIME.  PERIOD. Go watch it…or don’t, if you’re easily upset.

Here’s today’s playlist

  1. Dead! by My Chemical Romance
  2. War by Sick Puppies
  3. We Were Sick by The Thermals
  4. Ativan Eyes by Ted Leo and the Pharmacists
  5. The River by Good Charlotte
  6. What’s It Feel Like to Be a Ghost? by Taking Back Sunday
  7. Angels With Dirty Faces by Sum 41
  8. Ashtray Heart by Placebo
  9. Pardon Me by Incubus
  10. At Night We Live by Far

Kill me now…

May 26, 2010

This post is late. I know it, you know it, my girlfriend even knows it. The fact is, as school goes on, and finals approach, it doesn’t start to get easier. I also just broke my collarbone, and thus I missed a little school. I’ve been playing catch-up for the last two weeks, and last night I almost finished catching up. Thankfully.

So here’s the playlist, with two extra songs to make up for the tardiness. Unfortunately, WordPress.com being the restrictive and feature-poor service it is, I can’t insert a playlist, so it’s just a list of songs with youtube links. It’s a hassle, I know. Sorry. I’m trying to figure out how to do this through box.net. I should have it working by next week, assuming my internet lets me actually upload at a decent speed…unlike what it’s doing now.

1.White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane
